Overview

EMS Revenue Supervisor 

The EMS Revenue Supervisor is responsible for the audit and oversight of the Follow Up Department, leading a team to audit and process claims that reject, deny or need further investigation of conducting appeals and other billing related needs.  

All representatives will conduct insurance verification as needed and are required to complete prebilling training to qualify for the role. 

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the EMS Revenue Supervisor 

  • Responsible for auditing the payer's aging daily and delegating projects while ensuring staff meet deadlines. 
  • Collaborate with the Follow Up Auditor on projects and audits as well as deliver issues found to other departments to aid in continuing educational standards. 
  • Ensure policies and procedures are efficient and up to date. 
  • Communicate with multiple departments of issues occurring to eliminate future errors and streamline business processes. 
  • Provides continuing education monthly to staff to review issues that are occurring and refreshers on policies. 
  • Communicates with EDI department on trip volumes or lack of identifying issues sooner to avoid missing month end deadlines. 
  • Conduct time and quality studies on staff to analyze thoroughness and skillsets. 
  • Creates and maintains departmental documents and manuals for staff and management.  
  • Responsible for screening, interviewing, and hiring new staff.   
  • Meets established minimum coding productivity standards when assisting staff during times of high trip volume 
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of insurance, local, state, and federal billing. 

 

Key Skills of the EMS Revenue Supervisor 

  • Well-versed with medical billing practices that include an understanding of insurance billing codes, regulations, and procedures. 
  • Ability to investigate and resolve billing errors and disputes.  
  • Effective communication skills with clients, insurance companies, patients, staff members, and management.  
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Must have great attention to detail with high accuracy. 
  • Must take ownership of the department and revise to ensure positive outcomes with staff, clients, and revenue. 

Qualifications

Qualifications of the EMS Revenue Supervisor 

  • College preferred but not required; Medical Billing or Coding Certified preferred but not required. 
  • Minimum two years’ experience in customer care, account management, or similar role. 
  • Healthcare and Auto knowledge are preferred. 
  • Must be a quick learner and motivated individual with excellent verbal communications skills. 
  • Ability to “multi-task” and manage spurs of high call volume / stress. 
  • Positive, can-do attitude and with good judgement demonstrating ability to escalate accounts when needed. 
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback. 

 

Computer and Office Qualifications of the EMS Follow Up Supervisor 

  • Computer literacy is a must; Typing skillset of at least 45 WPM is highly desired 
  • Experience working in an active office environment. 
  • Must be able to work with 2 monitors and split screens to operate multiple sites simultaneously. 
  • Must be able to sit / stand for 8 hours minimum in an office environment 
  • Must be able to use Word, Excel Spreadsheet, Email, Chat Applications, and other software applications. 
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and apply job-related rules, policies, and procedures. 

Salary or Wage Range

USD $55,000.00 - USD $63,000.00 /Yr. rates offered based on years of experience
